Elissa Berlinger, LCSW

My journey to becoming a clinical social worker has been wide reaching and a life long journey. I completed my undergraduate in Studio Art (Ceramics) and Political Science at the University of Colorado Boulder. After completing my undergrad, I worked in at CU Boulder in the Office of Student Conduct and was an integral part of the Restorative Justice Program creating new and innovative community program. While there, my interest in social justice and clinical social work blossomed. I received my Masters in Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work where I interned at a community mental health center in Northampton, MA and at the Denver VA providing individual, couples, and, group therapy on both the inpatient and outpatient level. I completed a two year post-masters fellowship at Wardenburg Student Health Center at University of Colorado Boulder. I specialized in the treatment of eating disorders, substance use, psychodynamic psychotherapy, group therapy, and trauma. I have extensive experience in the treatment of eating disorders from my work at ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders at Denver Health and from my time coordinating the multi-disciplinary eating disorder team at University of Colorado Boulder. I am a member of the practice standards committee, which is responsible for developing standards of practice for Clinical Social Workers in the state of Colorado.

Along with my specialized training in eating disorders, trauma, and substance use, I have expertise in working with various neurological and chronic health conditions. I work in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain MS Center to provide education and counseling services to individuals and families who have been impacted by MS.

I am happy to share more about my work and my background.
